Something else that makes me sympathetic to Pharma's situation is like. Idk if there's an actual term for this or if someone smarter and more academic wrote it about some real life context that actually matters.

But, so we've already established among Pharma stans that the circumstances at Delphi were blackmail/torture with no real way out that wouldn't involve Pharma being responsible for people getting killed (either killing patients for the deal or having everyone die bc he failed his end of the deal).

And I feel like while "he's still in the wrong because he killed people" is part of it, another sort of implicit part is the idea that Pharma should've been willing to take more personal risk, maybe even risk dying? I mean, Ratchet does ask "why didn't you just detonate it near the DJD" (to which Pharma responds that he did try to get Sonic and Boom to do it, but they refused) so like

Idk I feel like we do have this social notion of martyrs as a very romantic ideal, people you can praise for being so brave and strong and righteous that they ended their own lives for their cause, while you can also coo about how sad and tragic it is that dying is what it took for them to do the right thing. But at the same time I feel like in reality, having an expectation that people become martyrs is kind of a toxic social norm bc like. It's very easy to demand that others sacrifice their lives for some Ultimate Moral Good when you yourself aren't experiencing the same hardships as they are. And ultimately it is kind of fucked up to tell someone "the moral thing you should've done was risk your life/kill yourself" because asking someone to pay their life to do the right thing is no small request. And sure, the typical response would be to call them a "coward" for caring more about saving their own skin instead of doing the right thing... but again, death is a really scary thing and self-preservation is a really strong instinct, so it kind of feels like having this binary view of "you're either a Brave Hero who sacrifices your life for everyone else or a Dirty Coward who's too scared of dying to do what's right" is kind of fucked up?

I guess the best way to describe it is that if someone willingly gives up their life as a sacrifice to others, it can be a noble thing because it's a choice they made willingly, but if it becomes a Moral Standard that in order to be a Good Person you have to be unafraid of throwing your life away and if you aren't willing to die you're a Cowardly Bad Person, that's when it becomes toxic.

Idk, I guess how this ties back to Pharma is that he was never in a position where he expected to make these kinds of moral decisions/ultimatums. He's a doctor who doesn't even get into combat, his job is to heal and not to kill, he's behind the front lines in a hospital that's supposed to be a safe, neutral place for him to heal people. So in the face of suddenly having a "murder people on behalf of me, or I murder everyone you swore to protect" ultimatum thrust upon him, I understand why Pharma wasn't """"""""""brave enough"""""""""" to "do the right thing" (whatever that would've been in the case of Delphi). You could argue that maybe a frontliner soldier accepted the burden of possibly dying for their cause and they've become used to it as someone who lives that reality every single day, but I feel like for Pharma, who's a doctor and a protected non-combatant (from what we can tell), that sort of risking of his life/living with the fact his life could be snuffed out any day isn't something he would've been prepared for at all.

And for me personally, from an outsider's perspective, it strikes me as kind of unethical to go "oh well he should've just detonated the bomb himself even if it killed him" bc again, there's a difference between witnessing a moral conundrum as a bystander versus being the person living with it and being under time pressure where it's do-or-die. Just as part of my personal standards, I feel like death is such a huge consequence/burden of someone's actions (literally you are no longer alive, any potential you had left is cut short, you cease to exist on this plane) that it feels rather callous to go "Well you should've just been willing to die for your beliefs if you really cared that much!!!"

But one day, brothers realise that MC stopped talking about their past fixation and was less interested with it. They think that "Oh, they probably just found something new!". But one day, they take MC's phone just to find that... They have a giant album in their gallery that is dedicated only to him????

The album has every photo he posted on Devilgram, every photo that he send MC, some unique photos that MC shooted themselves, even some chat screenshots with times when he said something cute to them! They even was photographing thigs that "reminds of him". Like some cheeseburger with "Beel vibes", Blue flower that "Looks like Luci" or gorgeous mannequin that "feels like Asmo".

If its someone like Asmo, he would also notice thta MC started buying their fanclub's merch! Like "Asmo lover #1" shirt or "Lucifer best man!!"cup(Luci is very popular, he probably also has some fanclubs! i hate this guy tho)

I think Levi and Mammon would die from embarrassment. Asmo would die out of happiness and Satan with Luci will try to pretend like thay never saw that. and idk about other ones. :P

Jayce's motivations have not been explored in any depth or meaningful way this season which would justify the story move. I was fully ready to call this a flawed but good show till the second half of this episode. I think this arc release will genuinely divide the fandom. Beginning of the end. Oof. Sorry boys. Arcane is Fumbled.

i watched the Old Guard yesterday bc I was interested (it was very good) and I wanted to give Hob Gadling, my blorbo, some immortal friends in my head and after wathing a couple of times and puttering about the fandom I came to the conclusion that Hob would make the Guards uncomfortable.

Not least bc his circumstances are different in the ways that matter (its will to live per century, and he can die whenever he'd like) but bc Hob doesnt have the sense if martyrdom the rest of them do. They never chose their immortality; they do the best they can with it.

Hob DID choose his immortality. He CONTINUES to choose it. He RELISHES in it.

Already that marks him as different, by core of faith and belief. Men like Hob are dangerous; bc people who deeply enjoy life, enjoy immortality on the scale he does without much regard for what it means are the kind of people who would kill for it. Whatever it takes. He can and will and HAS left things and people behind for the sake of it. If it took killing a man once a century he would have done it. Hes done worse. Theres always someone out there who deserves to die, by mercy of themself or others.

Hob is CONSTANTLY compared to the Corinthian by the sheer apetite for life; his own and others.

Thats bound to make the Guards uncomfortable. It would probably explain how Andy would prefer not to have him in her ranks. Hes too dangerous, and hes not a good person. His motivations are not something she understands, and definitely not something she trusts.

anyway yeah. so trigger is Freakishly determined on killing sera (because she has nothing better to do) and sera enjoys the company because its the closest thing shes got. also sera does like to flirt with her (think the yuuya school of being a flirty little asshole to distract yourself and everyone else from your severe mental issues) because If I Didnt Know Any Better, I'd Say You're Obsessed With Me! and yeah yeah you know the ship trope. trigger just has more of a gay hatecrush panic every showdown and does not really. parse that its gay for Stupid long. meanwhile sera is just flirting with her because she misses having someone to banter with she doesnt actually think shes capable of being loved. this is a mess. anyway the point is that theyve been doing a gay cat and mouse chase for so long at a point that they know each other better than anyone else and it feels wrong to not have one or the other there and maybe neither Wants the chase to end. yknow. the type of characters that due to character differences Wouldnt work together but if they did for a common enemy theyd work so harmoniously because they know each others weaknesses and habits in combat from fighting each other. you know.

(note: she thinks this murder is justified. she is quite possibly fully incorrect and very out of line either way.) being exiled for doing The Right And Just Thing gives her abandonment issues for days and she abandons her whole past identity in an outburst of (I never needed you all if all you ever do is turn your backs on me) and is now plotting to get revenge on her town in order to be an object lesson on what happens when you betray someone you loved. effectively she's putting herself as an example or, failing that, a martyr, but really her worse and worse actions are only caused by denial and her own lost pride. but she does not see that at all because all she sees Herself as is a disgraced hero

My thoughts

Eh, 7/10, a lot of it was just frustrating to read. Im really not a fan of miscommunication tropes or whatever hypocritcal shit was going on between fire and grey. Im also getting really sick of spottedleaf, The cloudkit being brought in scene was bad and weird, and dustpaw's just an asshole.

I liked the mentoring scenes, the apprentices, and yellowfang. I quite like brokenstar and tigerstar, even if their both bastards, and my boy whitestorm is still well written. I like that the queens are good fighters, and how supportive princess is of her brother. We didnt see much of runningwind but im fond of him. They still havent explained why sandstorm warmed up to him so suddenly, but its only book 2

Overall, a bit of a sour one, i definitely prefer the first book, out of the two, and i still think fire and ice should've been the name for the 6th book

its GOOD! i think names in particular would be hard for him because. iron man is really the only name he has for a while, there, and he doesn't MIND it but it isn't like. a person name. it's an identity name. it implies that there is something else he goes by other than that, when... there isn't.

shellhead is very good, but i feel like it is very much like... an informal nickname other superheroes call him? like it’s cute but also it isn’t very personal. and he doesn’t necessarily want to go by tony, even though he kind of is tony (kind of? a little bit?) because uh. it’s weird to go by the name of someone you saw die, and also he is distinct from being tony stark. maybe not by much, but it matters.

(as much as i feel like he does feel and act very very similarly to tony stark, which is why he is similarly blorbo-ified in my head, i feel like there is a personal distinction the AI makes and that tony would also make between them, especially because of the existing distinction he makes between tony stark and iron man.)

I tend to default to calling AI tonies “A” to differentiate them from the original, but if i’m writing internal POV they still refer to themselves as Tony, so trying to figure out a name for one who isn’t is still... tricky.

i honestly don’t know what he would end up going by! absolutely no thoughts, but i do feel like he needs a name, one that isn’t just “iron man” and nicknames derived from that.
